An elevator speech is crucial for librarians because it provides a quick, yet compelling, way to convey the value and relevance of library services to stakeholders, be they administrators, patrons, or potential funders. In today's fast-paced world, first impressions matter more than ever, and you often have only a minute or two to make your case. A well-crafted elevator speech allows librarians to highlight the library's role as not just place to check out books, but as a hub for learning and technology. As I worked to develop a pitch, I learned how this brief message can serve as a powerful advocacy tool that will benefit both the library and the community it represents.
